Amy Jaffers is the face behind Sports Bras Direct, Australia’s largest sports bra website.
She started it for a simple reason: she couldn’t find a sports bra that fit properly, and discovered she was very far from alone.
Why Sports Bras Direct exists
If you live in regional Australia, your options for buying a sports bra have often been dismal. In plenty of towns the local hardware store is genuinely the only place to try.
Department stores carry a narrow band of sizes. Boutiques stock only their own labels. And if you’re outside what the big chains consider a standard size, the choice thins out to almost nothing.
Amy built Sports Bras Direct to fix that — a wide range of brands, styles and sizes, with proper fitting advice attached, available from anywhere.
Free delivery and free returns came out of the same thinking. If you can’t try before you buy, the least the shop can do is take the risk out of getting it wrong.
What Amy actually does
Amy has spent 10 years helping women find sports bras that fit, and has personally helped 1000+ women find their size.
She knows the brands Sports Bras Direct stocks well enough to predict how each one will fit
The advice, free and in one place
Amy wrote the Fitting Room: a free set of guides covering how to determine your size, how a bra should actually fit, what to do when something isn’t right, breast shape, and fitting through different life stages. There are brand-specific fit guides for 13 of the labels stocked.
A common one she corrects: **your bra back size is not your dress size.** Plenty of women need a larger back size than they assume, which is why the Fitting Room starts there.
Why the profits go to women’s charities
Sports Bras Direct donates a portion of its profits to women’s charities, chosen by the customer.
Amy’s view is that a business should have a purpose beyond the profit itself. Women, supporting women, supporting women.
