Caring for Your Bra

Just like your bra takes care of you, you can return the favour and take care of it too! It’s ideal to wash your bra every time you wear it, but this may vary on whether it was a chilled day with your regular bra or an intense workout in your sports bra.

To extend the lifespan of your bra we recommend you hand wash it in cool water with a mild detergent and dry flat in the shade. Most non wired bras can be machine washed. Ensure the clips are fastened and use a garment bag to prevent damage. Wash on a cool, gentle cycle avoiding fabric softeners. If you opt to line dry, hang your bra in half, not from the shoulder strap or back strap. Avoid using pegs. Never tumble dry, bleach, iron or dry clean your bra.

Please always check the manufacturer’s guidelines for how to wash and care for your  bra. We want your bra to last as long as possible so please visit caring for your  bra for further information.

Common questions

Are padded sports bras good for large breasts?

Yes. Padded sports bras can work very well for larger breasts. Look for bra-sized designs with supportive cups and a firm underband. Lightly padded or moulded cups can provide shaping and coverage without adding too much bulk. The most important thing is finding a bra that fits your breasts properly.

Are padded sports bras good for running and high-impact exercise?

Yes, provided the bra is designed specifically for high-impact activities. Padding itself doesn't control breast movement. Support comes from features such as structured cups, a firm band and secure straps. Always check the bra's recommended support level before choosing it for running or vigorous exercise.

Are padded sports bras hot or uncomfortable during exercise?

Not necessarily. Many modern padded sports bras use lightweight, breathable materials designed for exercise. However, thicker padding can sometimes feel warmer during intense workouts. If you tend to get hot, look for lightweight cups and breathable fabrics. The right fit can also make a big difference to your overall comfort.

Are racerback sports bras comfortable for everyday wear?

They certainly can be. Many women enjoy racerback sports bras because the straps stay securely positioned throughout the day. Comfort depends on the bra's fit, support level and strap design. Some high-impact racerbacks may feel firmer than you need for everyday wear. For longer wear, choose a style that feels supportive without excessive pressure.

Are racerback sports bras good for large breasts?

Yes. Racerback sports bras can be a great option for larger breasts when properly fitted. Look for supportive cups, a firm band and comfortable straps. Adjustable racerback straps can be particularly useful for creating a more personalised fit. Make sure the straps don't place uncomfortable pressure around your shoulders or neck.

Are racerback sports bras good for running and high-impact exercise?

Yes, provided the bra is specifically designed for high-impact exercise. Racerback straps can stay securely positioned while you're running, jumping or changing direction. This can be particularly useful during energetic workouts. However, always check the bra's support level. A racerback design alone doesn't guarantee high-impact support.

More about Racerback Sports Bras

Are racerback sports bras more supportive?

Racerback straps can help keep your straps secure and evenly positioned during exercise. However, a racerback design doesn't automatically make a sports bra more supportive. Support also comes from the band, cups, fabrics and overall construction. Choose a support level that matches your activity, rather than relying on strap style alone.

Are wirefree sports bras good for high-impact exercise?

Yes. Some wirefree sports bras are specifically designed for running and high-impact exercise. These bras use supportive cups, firm bands and strong fabrics to control breast movement. Some also combine compression and encapsulation for additional support. Always check the bra's recommended impact level before choosing.

More about Wirefree Sports Bras

Are wirefree sports bras more comfortable than underwired sports bras?

They can be, particularly if you don't enjoy wearing underwire. Without a wire, there's no risk of the wire pressing or digging into your body. However, comfort still depends on getting the right size and fit. Some women love wirefree sports bras, while others prefer the structure of underwire.

More about Wirefree Sports Bras

Can a wirefree sports bra provide enough support for large breasts?

Yes. A well-designed wirefree sports bra can provide excellent support for larger breasts. Instead of underwire, support comes from features like firm bands, structured cups and supportive fabrics. Wide or adjustable straps can also improve comfort and stability. The key is choosing the correct size and support level for your activity.

Do padded sports bras provide more support?

Not necessarily. Padding can provide extra coverage and help create a smooth, rounded shape. Most sports bra support comes from the band, cups and overall construction. A non-padded sports bra can provide just as much support when properly designed. Choose your sports bra based on its support level rather than padding alone.

Do padded sports bras stop nipples showing?

Padded sports bras generally provide more nipple coverage than thin, non-padded styles. Light padding or moulded cups create an extra layer between your breasts and clothing. This can provide a smoother appearance underneath fitted activewear. Coverage can vary, so check the cup construction when choosing your bra.

How should a high impact sports bra fit?

A high impact sports bra should feel firm and secure, but never painfully tight. The band should sit level around your body without riding up. Your breasts should sit comfortably inside the cups without spilling or gaping. The straps should feel secure without digging into your shoulders. Try jumping or jogging on the spot. Your breasts should feel supported without uncomfortable movement.

How should a racerback sports bra fit?

A racerback sports bra should feel firm and secure without restricting your movement. The band should sit level around your body without riding upwards. Your breasts should also sit fully inside the cups without spilling or gaping. The straps should feel secure without digging into your shoulders or neck.

How should a wirefree sports bra fit?

A wirefree sports bra should feel firm and secure without being painfully tight. The band should sit level around your body and remain secure during movement. Your breasts should be fully contained without spilling from the cups. Try jumping or jogging on the spot. You should feel comfortably supported without excessive movement.

Should I choose a wirefree or underwired sports bra?

Both can provide excellent support, so your choice comes down to personal preference. Wirefree sports bras provide support without a wire and can feel more flexible. Underwired designs can provide additional separation, shaping and individual breast support. Choose the option that feels comfortable, fits correctly and provides enough support for your activity.

Should I choose an underwired or wirefree high impact sports bra?

Both underwired and wirefree sports bras can provide excellent high impact support. Underwired styles can provide extra separation, shaping and individual breast support. This makes them popular with many fuller-bust women. Prefer going wirefree? Don't worry. A well-designed wirefree sports bra can still provide excellent movement control. Your choice should come down to fit, comfort and personal preference.

What is the best high impact sports bra for large breasts?

For larger breasts, look for strong support rather than simply choosing the tightest bra. Bra-sized designs can provide a more precise fit than standard S–XL sizing. Encapsulation styles are also worth considering. These support each breast individually and can provide excellent movement control. A firm band, supportive cups and adjustable straps are also important. Ultimately, the best sports bra is one that fits your body properly.

What size high impact sports bra should I buy?

Start with your current, correctly fitted bra size. However, remember that sizing can vary between brands and styles. Your band should feel firm without restricting your breathing. Your breasts should also sit completely inside the cups without spilling or gaping. Don't automatically size up because a sports bra feels firmer. High impact bras are designed to feel secure during movement.

More about High Impact Sports Bras

Will a high impact sports bra actually stop breast bounce?

A good high impact sports bra should significantly reduce breast movement. However, no sports bra can completely eliminate every bit of bounce. The right bra should keep your breasts comfortably supported during running, jumping and fast movement. Fit is important too. Even a great sports bra won't perform properly if it's the wrong size.
