Caring for Your Bra

Just like your bra takes care of you, you can return the favour and take care of it too! It’s ideal to wash your bra every time you wear it, but this may vary on whether it was a chilled day with your regular bra or an intense workout in your sports bra.

To extend the lifespan of your bra we recommend you hand wash it in cool water with a mild detergent and dry flat in the shade. Most non wired bras can be machine washed. Ensure the clips are fastened and use a garment bag to prevent damage. Wash on a cool, gentle cycle avoiding fabric softeners. If you opt to line dry, hang your bra in half, not from the shoulder strap or back strap. Avoid using pegs. Never tumble dry, bleach, iron or dry clean your bra.

Please always check the manufacturer’s guidelines for how to wash and care for your  bra. We want your bra to last as long as possible so please visit caring for your  bra for further information.

Common questions

Are black sports bras good for everyday workouts?

Yes. A black sports bra is a practical and versatile choice for almost any workout.

Black works easily with most activewear and is ideal for regular gym sessions, walking or training. For running and vigorous exercise, choose a bra designed specifically for high-impact support.

Our Sports Bra Hub can help you choose the right support for your activity.

More about Black Sports Bras

Are non-padded sports bras cooler and more breathable?

They can be. Without additional padding, these sports bras often feel lighter against your body. Many also use breathable or moisture-managing fabrics designed to keep you comfortable during exercise. This can make non-padded styles particularly appealing during hot or sweaty workouts. Breathability still varies between individual designs and fabrics.

Are non-padded sports bras good for large breasts?

Yes. Non-padded sports bras can be an excellent choice for larger breasts. Look for bra-sized designs with structured cups and a firm, supportive band. Encapsulated cups can also help support each breast individually without adding padding. Many fuller-bust women also prefer the lighter feel of non-padded cups.

More about Non-Padded Sports Bras

Are non-padded sports bras good for running and high-impact exercise?

Yes, provided the sports bra is designed for high-impact activities. Non-padded cups can still provide excellent movement control during running and vigorous exercise. The bra's overall construction is more important than whether the cups contain padding. Always check the recommended support level for your chosen activity.

More about Non-Padded Sports Bras

Are padded bras good for large breasts?

Yes. Padded bras can work very well for larger and fuller breasts.

Lightly padded or moulded cups can provide shaping and nipple coverage without adding too much bulk. Support mainly comes from the band and cup construction rather than the padding itself.

If you're unsure of your size, our Determine Your Size guide is a great place to start.

More about Padded | Moulded Bras

Are padded sports bras good for large breasts?

Yes. Padded sports bras can work very well for larger breasts. Look for bra-sized designs with supportive cups and a firm underband. Lightly padded or moulded cups can provide shaping and coverage without adding too much bulk. The most important thing is finding a bra that fits your breasts properly.

More about Padded or Moulded Sports Bras

Are padded sports bras good for running and high-impact exercise?

Yes, provided the bra is designed specifically for high-impact activities. Padding itself doesn't control breast movement. Support comes from features such as structured cups, a firm band and secure straps. Always check the bra's recommended support level before choosing it for running or vigorous exercise.

More about Padded or Moulded Sports Bras

Are padded sports bras hot or uncomfortable during exercise?

Not necessarily. Many modern padded sports bras use lightweight, breathable materials designed for exercise. However, thicker padding can sometimes feel warmer during intense workouts. If you tend to get hot, look for lightweight cups and breathable fabrics. The right fit can also make a big difference to your overall comfort.

Are racerback sports bras comfortable for everyday wear?

They certainly can be. Many women enjoy racerback sports bras because the straps stay securely positioned throughout the day. Comfort depends on the bra's fit, support level and strap design. Some high-impact racerbacks may feel firmer than you need for everyday wear. For longer wear, choose a style that feels supportive without excessive pressure.

More about Racerback Sports Bras

Are racerback sports bras good for large breasts?

Yes. Racerback sports bras can be a great option for larger breasts when properly fitted. Look for supportive cups, a firm band and comfortable straps. Adjustable racerback straps can be particularly useful for creating a more personalised fit. Make sure the straps don't place uncomfortable pressure around your shoulders or neck.

More about Racerback Sports Bras

Are racerback sports bras good for running and high-impact exercise?

Yes, provided the bra is specifically designed for high-impact exercise. Racerback straps can stay securely positioned while you're running, jumping or changing direction. This can be particularly useful during energetic workouts. However, always check the bra's support level. A racerback design alone doesn't guarantee high-impact support.

More about Racerback Sports Bras

Are racerback sports bras more supportive?

Racerback straps can help keep your straps secure and evenly positioned during exercise. However, a racerback design doesn't automatically make a sports bra more supportive. Support also comes from the band, cups, fabrics and overall construction. Choose a support level that matches your activity, rather than relying on strap style alone.

Are wirefree bras good for large breasts?

Yes. Wirefree bras can be a great choice for larger and fuller breasts.

Look for styles with a supportive band and cups designed for your size. Structured cups and wider straps can also provide additional support without needing an underwire.

Correct sizing makes a big difference. Our Determine Your Size guide can help you find a good starting size.

Are wirefree bras more comfortable than underwired bras?

They can be, particularly if you don't enjoy the feeling of an underwire.

Without a wire, there's no risk of the wire pressing or digging into your body. However, comfort still depends on choosing the correct size and cup shape.

Some women prefer wirefree bras, while others love underwired support. Neither choice is right for everyone.

Are wirefree sports bras good for high-impact exercise?

Yes. Some wirefree sports bras are specifically designed for running and high-impact exercise. These bras use supportive cups, firm bands and strong fabrics to control breast movement. Some also combine compression and encapsulation for additional support. Always check the bra's recommended impact level before choosing.

They can be, particularly if you don't enjoy wearing underwire. Without a wire, there's no risk of the wire pressing or digging into your body. However, comfort still depends on getting the right size and fit. Some women love wirefree sports bras, while others prefer the structure of underwire.

Can a plus size sports bra provide enough support for high-impact exercise?

Yes. A well-designed plus size sports bra can provide excellent support during high-impact exercise.

Look for styles specifically designed for running, HIIT and other vigorous activities. A firm band, supportive cups and secure straps can all help control uncomfortable movement.

Our Sports Bra Movement Test can help you check your support before exercising.

Can a wirefree sports bra provide enough support for large breasts?

Yes. A well-designed wirefree sports bra can provide excellent support for larger breasts. Instead of underwire, support comes from features like firm bands, structured cups and supportive fabrics. Wide or adjustable straps can also improve comfort and stability. The key is choosing the correct size and support level for your activity.

More about Wirefree Sports Bras

Do non-padded sports bras provide enough support?

Yes. A non-padded sports bra can provide excellent support when properly designed and fitted. Padding doesn't determine how supportive a sports bra is. Support mainly comes from the band, cup construction, straps and supportive fabrics. Choose your bra based on its support level and your activity.

More about Non-Padded Sports Bras

Do non-padded sports bras show nipples?

They can provide less nipple coverage than padded or moulded sports bras. How much shows depends on the thickness and construction of the cups. Some non-padded designs use several fabric layers, which can provide additional coverage. If nipple coverage is important to you, check the cup construction before choosing.

More about Non-Padded Sports Bras

Do padded bras make your breasts look bigger?

Not always. A lightly padded bra can provide shape and coverage without noticeably increasing your bust size.

Thicker padding and push-up styles can create more volume or enhance cleavage. Moulded cups often focus more on creating a smooth, rounded shape.

Check the individual cup construction if you want shaping without extra volume.

More about Padded | Moulded Bras

Do padded sports bras provide more support?

Not necessarily. Padding can provide extra coverage and help create a smooth, rounded shape. Most sports bra support comes from the band, cups and overall construction. A non-padded sports bra can provide just as much support when properly designed. Choose your sports bra based on its support level rather than padding alone.

More about Padded or Moulded Sports Bras

Do padded sports bras stop nipples showing?

Padded sports bras generally provide more nipple coverage than thin, non-padded styles. Light padding or moulded cups create an extra layer between your breasts and clothing. This can provide a smoother appearance underneath fitted activewear. Coverage can vary, so check the cup construction when choosing your bra.

Do wirefree bras provide enough support?

Yes. A well-designed wirefree bra can provide excellent everyday support.

Instead of underwire, support comes from features like a firm band, structured cups and supportive fabrics. Wider straps can also improve comfort, particularly for fuller busts.

Our Bra Fit Hub has helpful advice on finding the right support and fit.
